History

The outdoor advertising history

The services  and products advertising was very important for the merchants from antiques times.

They chiseled the sales messages on stone tablets placed along the public roadways.

Thousands of year later  the stone tablets are replaced by large format billboards placed along the high traffic areas or in the top designated market areas where the billboards are highly visible.

So we can speak about a distinctive way of advertising, outdoor advertising, the oldest form of touching the public with advertising messages.

In the 21th  century business companies can chose a variety of supports for advertising their products, because the technology transformed the stone tablets into very attractive outdoor formats such as: shopping centers displays, illuminated panels, city-lights, large format mesh, bus station advertising, transit, taxis and small shops, rooftops, airports advertising.

Through the use of this variety of formats outdoor advertising provide benefits that can’t be provided by other advertising mediums:

-> the target people spend more time in their vehicle than they do to read newspapers or watch the new;

-> outdoor advertising has a lower cost than television, newspapers or radio;

-> seeing the outdoor advertising messages are free to consumers;

-> billboards are noticed because of their messages, bright bold colors and creative graphics, does not interrupt the consumers in any way;

-> outdoor advertising allows the messages to be displayed 24 hours a day,  seven days a week, which means repeating the message exposure, an extremely helpful thing for the advertising campaigns having the goal of increasing a product or a brand awareness;

-> a billboard with a good location can have more viewers than a football game;

-> small businesses benefit the most from billboard advertising;
